What is the E.F.B. Program?

When the Yuma Community Food Bank started at its humble beginnings at its 3rd Street location, a program similar to the E.F.B., or Emergency Food Box program was in its infancy.  Over the years, the program has become more structured and more efficient.  The program was designed to offer adequate nutritional sustenance to families who have experienced an unexpected emergency. After meeting all eligibility requirements, the customer receives a food box based on their family size. Each box is designed to feed every family member 3 meals a day for 5 days. Families may use this program up to four times a year.

As well as distributing emergency food boxes directly out of the food bank the E.F.B. program assists with these following specialty projects:

  • Food For Hospice of Yuma - Food Boxes, based on family size, are delivered to terminally ill patients.
  • Fill the shelves for Habitat for Humanity - Upon moving into their new home, Habitat owners are provided with two weeks worth of food and cleaning supplies. Based on family size.
  • Yuma County AIDS Program -  The program helps provide food to terminally ill AIDS patients while allowing them to maintain their privacy by not requiring them to give any personal information to the Food Bank.
